Advanced Technical Theatre

The ELAPA Magnet Intermediate  Stagecraft course teaches students the skills necessary to provide professional technical elements and support for live performances. This course will train students to provide stagecraft design support that will increase the quality of live performances at ELAPA Magnet and beyond. Students will be exposed to industry professionals and industry-standard practices and equipment that will provide a base of understanding and readiness for higher education and entertainment industry careers. This intermediate course provides students with project-based learning (PBL) and work-based learning (WBL) opportunities in stage production and management. Instructional emphasis is placed on the history/architecture/components of stage design, the creation and evaluation of scenic, costume, makeup, lighting, and sound designs as well as the policies and practices of effective stage and house management. Topics also include an orientation, trade mathematics, resource management, and internships.

The competencies in this course are aligned with the Common Core State Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards.
